Just finished the Tacoma Home and Garden show this week end. We had a great response and wowed the crowd with our custom display I spent almost 2 weeks to complete. Here are a couple of photos. We will be participating at the North West Flower and Garden show at the end of February if you didn't get a chance to check out our action in Tacoma. That's all for now- I need to figure out how I'm going to hit 35 appointments in 5 days. Wish me luck........ Stay Out Of The Rain 05/30/2010
Living in Washington and working outdoors will sometimes test your patience. It has been exceptionally wet so far this year. I have been spending a lot of time under my patio covers. The most recent one is a brand called Equinox Louvered Canopy. It is made from an all aluminum frame with steel louvers on a track that are attached to a 12 volt electric motor. The entire system is powder coated for a long lasting finish. The motor is hooked up to a solar charger so you don't have to run power to the source of the unit. The motor is controlled by a wireless key fob remote. I put one over my hot tub because I was tired of dragging an umbrella out every time it was raining. We love the cover although it stays mostly closed since we haven't had much of a chance to enjoy a clear evening yet. I guess what I'm getting at is if I normally was in my hot tub and it started raining, I would think, "man I can go to work and feel like this". Now when I'm in my hot tub, I feel like I'm cheating the weather ;-) Just as long as nobody presses the remote and opens up the louvers...... Gore Tex 03/31/2010
Holy Rain! It has been relentless. We are working in a city called Olympia about an hour from Tacoma and I swear it rains 3x more and harder than it does in Tacoma. I'm grateful I purchased a couple of Gore Tex rain jackets on Ebay. I've never invested in good rain gear before- always the stuff from Costco. I'm truly a believer now in you get what you pay for. At least with rain gear. Hot Water 03/23/2010
When you design some of these projects, you forget how large and time consuming it can be compared to a conventional deck. You can also forget how sore you get lifting so much weight over and over. I am thankful for a hot tub on days like these to keep the blood flowing around my sore back muscles as well as the rest of my decomposing body. As a matter of fact, I'm putting this CPU down and my hot tub shorts on. See ya! Dig & Pour Concrete 03/17/2010
As I get older, I find I am acquiring more devices to make my job easier. Not a power tool, more like power equipment. I find myself using this equipment to do the job that my young bones used to do so eagerly and easily. The funny thing is as I introduce these older man devices to my much younger apprentice, it becomes evident that they don't ever want to work without it. Hmmmmmmm interesting. Today the device was called a "Little Beaver" Hydraulic Power Auger. Wow man! Is this a cool device. Punching holes in the ground has never been easier or more gratifying. The cool thing about the hydraulic auger is that it has a reverse so as it gets stuck, you can back it out. 10 holes in 20 minutes- half of them hard digging. Something I will keep in my arsenal until I stop doing this. (probably never) Back to work 03/16/2010
Finally ! after being off for a few weeks, The Dr. is back to work. PTL ! We just sold a large project in Olympia and will start demolition tomorrow. After demo, we will dig and pour concrete and then go hand select our framing at Gray Lumber in Tacoma, WA. I will try to post some pics soon. Please respond with any questions or comments you may have or topics you would like to discuss.... For now Good Night. Mission Statement 03/05/2010
Increase your livable area in style and enjoy your new extended living room outside while your new B.B.Q. grills up some fat fillets. Chill with a cold beverage in your new hot tub or swimming pool surrounded by the best composite decking money can buy. Don't forget to turn off the fire pit before you sit down on your new patio lounger and feast on the choice prime you just smoked in your new stainless steel outdoor kitchen. The rain just came but no worries, just glide over and chill under your new aluminum and acrylic patio covers and finish the incredible meal you just prepared for you and your guests. The low voltage lighting just popped on at dusk to set the mood. Who knows what's next....
